December 2022 Message from the Chair
Dear Members and Friends
During this festive season, we think of family and friends close by and those far away and the traditions that bring us together. For the British, step forward the man who invented the traditional Christmas: Charles John Huffam Dickens Esquire. It was his emotive fiction, A Christmas Carol, published in December 1843, which established Christmas in the English imagination as the apotheosis of family life. It’s the most important British festival of the entire year.
As we count down to the end of 2022, we must also take time to pause and reflect on the past year, the highlights, and achievements during what has been a challenging year for all. It marked the start of the end of the COVID-19 pandemic, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee, while we mourned her passing and welcomed His Majesty King Charles III. Also in a space of just two months, there have been three British Prime Ministers! Yet it is the strength of the close friendship and ties between the UK and US that endure whatever the challenges and always look for opportunities to build further on that strength together.
As we look to the year ahead, the BABC-PNW wishes to express that without the loyalty of our members, partners, and friends, with your honest feedback, and your support, we wouldn’t be able to continue to provide our services and role in the Pacific Northwest international business community. We look forward to continuing with a full program of events, gatherings, and business/trade opportunities ahead. We are here for you!
Wishing you all a Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and a healthy, prosperous New Year!
